Though later maturity makes one realize she had to die for the planet (perhaps it was a condition of Holy working-because if she hadn't been in the Lifestream it wouldn't have saved the planet when Holy was too late); I'll admit my sixteen year old self was horrified at that. No game ever made me cry (until I got to FFX). Having played most of the games and a IV and VI addict by then; they always got ressurected, you know, even Tellah in IV who has to be one of the biggest retcons in any genre of fiction ever (turning up later in a tank my A-.) Aerith represented the innocence and purity of the planet, Sephiroth the hatred and will to destroy as his 'Mother.' So the daughter of the planet was felled by the son of the calamity; but who won in the end?
Well, it has been a while. I just remember the dwarven tanks assaulting the underground Tower of Babel toward the end of the main part of the game on the Blue Planet; it had flashes of those who had died in the tanks cheering Cecil and them on. Could have sworn. But I'll take your word for it. I'll have to play through again. Trivia that probably everyone knows, just thought I'd share: since there is the 'l' 'r' problem in translation, Tellah's name should have been translated by the horrible FFII American Version translator as Terra. But it's hard to imagine anyone named Terra but the VI heroine. I don't think it's even fixed in the Hard Type, but I'm still trying to find that ROM and I'm a Vista Virgin.
I have Aerith on my desktop. It's a little weird sometimes when you've seen so much of characters in the games, etc, that you think in a small way of them as being real people.

I was actually sad when Aeris died. FF7 was a very affecting game.

Lol :)
I seem to remember some really poignant music when she died. Which just added to the effect. I thought Oh No! How can they do that!
Forgetting that asterisks disappear on this website also makes me cry!
;)
Cant they get any better pictures of her?
Anyone can add pictures.
those piccies are good.

Aeris is the best girl in final fantasy 7. it sucked that she died. but i put in a cheat code and she was reborn so i was happy.
Overrated as FF7 is, she’s still my favorite VG girl.
Her death was spoiled for me when I was really little.

I hated aerith… she really annoyed me. :S

Tellah never came back in a tank, he's the only one who died and stayed dead.
