However, I DO have to say I am not a fan of Abstinence Only Education programs. I think Abstaining from any sexual activity should top the list, but kids still need to know the facts as well, even the not-so pleasant ones. And THEN after they know they facts, if we have given them the right info FAIRLY (and not ignored Abstinance just because morality seems to be taboo these days) at least they will be making informed choices.

Is it perfect? No. Will some still choose wrong? Yes. But some won’t. “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” -Prov. 22:6

Anyway, keeping that commitment is working so far for me and my boyfriend. I am 27 years old and still going strong. He is not a Virgin, he was married before and is now divorced. If things progress to that point where we are married, then that will be awesome, and we will both be able to tell each other that we kept our promises not to have sex outside of marriage. And that will be cool.

Anyway, I didn’t mean to get all preachy! (Or SAPPY ! GEEZ ! I blame February!) I need more sleep. This BestStuff is far too addicting. Ha!

The problem is that it is not 100%. Abstinence does not work. I know a few rape victims for starters. I also know a few things that might take your mind off of abstinence if applyed right. The only place I can think abstinence might work is the loveless society of the US.

Strange, I've lived in the US my whole life, and I have yet to come across this "loveless society" of which you speak.

Well, I would call them mutating morals. Abstinence as a virtue, for instance, has been modernized into the virtue of contraception, and perhaps one day, the virtue of abortion, when abortion becomes cheap, safe, and socially accepted enough to compete with contraception. We're almost there with the morning after pill. You see, in today's society, sex is a liesure activity, and because the unborn have no birth certificates, and therefore no citizenship nor recognition by the government, those unborn have no right to infringe on their would-be parents' persuit of happiness. When life begins is really not an issue. The true issue is when legal guardianship begins. And it's starting to seem like that doesn't begin until birth.
