The 1967 GT500 perfectly blends old-car style with new-car technology. The 428 aluminum-head engine in this limited-production convertible is tweaked to produce approximately 400 horsepower and 350 foot-pounds of torque. An insulated cloth top, Italian-leather interior, state-of-the-art sound system, A/C and automatic transmission provide a soft side to this ferocious beast.
Admired by enthusiasts as one of the last true Mustangs, the GT500 had one of the most powerful engine ever to be fitted in a Mustang. It was ‘The’ car to have, and with its incredible torque it was a great contestant for quarter-mile runs and other demonstrations of raw power. This very original car is a tribute to the epitome of the ‘American Automobile way of life.’
In 1967 the Mustang body style was altered which meant there was more room in the engine bay. This was also the first year for the GT500 which boasted a 428 cubic-inch engine in true Shelby fashion producing more than 350 horsepower. The GT500 was given a unique front end with hood scoops and center mounted lights. The back of the car borrowed many components from the Thunderbird including the rear quarter scoops, sequential turn signals and the rear spoiler.
