Well, the conjunction “but” generally implies a condradiction of some kind. I assumed it was between “seems like a bitch” and “hasn’t been preaching”. I can’t see the relevance of the second half of the phrase otherwise. If that’s not what was intended, I’m sorry I bristled at you, but I still don’t know what you meant with that bit.

Most people think I’m pretty accepting too. I’m simply too much of an idealist to be accepting of all suffering. If I see a guy who’s hurt, I’m going to intervene; and if I see a guy who could have intervened with relative ease but chose not to, I’m going to hold it against him. I hope you know I would not steal penicillin from you. Further, I wouldn’t refuse to give it to you freely because I preferred to make candy-necklace-style jewelry out of it, and wear it to assert my superior finacial status. That probably would have been the better analogy. At the end of the day, we’d probably agree about a lot of points relating to personal liberty. It’s just that everyone who’s fond of liberty needs to draw the line where they feel that one person’s liberty trespasses into another’s, resulting in less liberty all around. We only disagree about where that line is drawn, I suspect. :)

I certainly realize Paris-the-person and Paris-the-icon may be completely different things, it’s just that I feel comfortable expressing dislike for the fictional girl if she is a fiction. I assume that’s what most people are talking about when they talk about her anyway: the image that has been offered publicly. That image encompasses certain values, and those values are the only thing about her I find all that interesting. I am, I dare I say, relatively indifferent to her otherwise.
